From Relevant Ninja Tambay
VH1 has announced that they're planning to get back into the TV movie business with a series of bio-pics about popular pop and hip-hop groups and musicians. If ya'll remember they did have a MC hammer, The Biggie/Tupac joint, with relevant ninja and ninjette Faizon Love and Toni Braxton that wasn't really, Biggie/Tupac but that shit was still kinda good, the Michael Jackson joint and maybe a few others. So now they're doing one based off of the music, career and the private and painful conflicts and personal lives of the popular 1990's trio TLC.
Made up of Chilli, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who was tragically killed in car accident while on a spiritual retreat in Honduras in April 2002, the group sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and is still considered to be most successful female group in history.
I gotta say VH1 always puts out Relevant television movies for the time. The Michael Jackson one Im not so sure about, but the other one's held my interest and shit. So Im looking forward to seeing what they do with this one.
T Boz and Chilli are rockin' as consultants and executive producers for the joint. Kate Lanier is puttin' the pen to the paper on that muffuggah as the writer. She also wrote What’s Love Got To Do With It, Beauty Shop, and Set It Off.
According to Chilli: “The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life. I always felt our story had to be told. What makes it even more amazing is having Kate Lanier on board. I remember watching ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ with Lisa, and I knew then whoever wrote that story had to write ours."
No word yet as to the director or if they've started casting, but I'll let ya'll know If some of you guys want to audition.
